Late 18th century schooner Enterprise was the only medium where the warship upcoming American war fleet on its disposal to protect American merchants who traded with the Mediterranean countries trade against Berber pirates. The Enterprise was built in 1799 in Maryland, and took direct part in the attack against the pirates port of Tripoli in 1801.
The schooner was rebuilt twice: in 1805 in Venice ", and in 1811 in Washington. The last time the mast and the spar of the schooner were replaced by those of a brigantine. The Enterprise took part with the Constitution participated in the capture of the pirate ship Matisco, and in 1813 won the English brigantine Boxer. The ship arrived in 1823 in the West Indies "at its end.
