The aircraft carrier Clemenceau was one of the French navy. The ship was built during the second half of the fifties and was launched in 1961. The Clemenceau was 265 m long and 51.2 m wide, with a draft of 8.6 m. The maximum speed was 32 knots, but the maximum range (7,500 nautical miles) was achieved at an average speed of 18 knots. The Clemenceau was variously used as a helicopter carrier and mother, along with her sister ship the Foch. Later than planned, the Clemenceau was decommissioned in 1997 and used as storage for spare parts for the Foch.
