"Le Centaur" was presented as a single unit "Show Truck" at the Paris Motor Show in 1978. The starting point for the development was the famous Berliet TR 350, includes a 15-liter V8 turbo engine with 356 hp. The truck was produced with input from Marcel Benoit. The goal was to show something at the fair in Paris that enthusiasm has flared up again, with something other than the standard vehicles that were on the market at that time. The Le Centaur project the names of two people come together, the French designer Lucien May and Jean Pierre Augier, the developer of the Lamberet truck body. After 15 days of non-stop work was in Lamberet Bodywork factory "Le Centaur" was born. The vehicle was launched in two versions, a 356 hp and 305 hp variant. In 1980, Le Centaur was included in the Renault brand and it took the trade name of, Berliet TR 356 and Renault R360.
