The Douglas SBD Dauntless was the bomber in the early years of World War 2 standard was used by the US military. Nearly 6,000 copies were produced in 6 major versions. The attack aircraft took off from the beginning participated in the military operations in the Pacific, in particular the Battle of the Coral Sea and the Battle of Midway. The SBDs remained in service and the last major military action in which they were used was the Battle of the Philippine Sea. He was then replaced by the SB2C Driver.
