The Star Wars -filmreeks is the third most successful film series of all time (behind Harry Potter and James Bond series), with a total revenue of 4.3 billion dollars. The six films are recorded in two sets of three. The first series consisted of sections 4, 5 and 6, and began with Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope (1977). The title of this film was originally simply Star Wars, George Lucas but only got permission from 20th Century Fox to change the name after the release of the sequel The Empire Strikes Back (1980). The reason was that it was initially so doubtful that there ever a sequel would come when she would show no subtitle. Also, it would provide too much confusion as the first movie started with the designation Episode IV.
In addition to the films and the media franchise merchandise consists of many different items such as books, television shows, games, animated films (such as Star Wars: The Clone Wars) and of course plastic model boxes.
