The JS Elcano is a training ship of the Spanish Navy. This four-masted, a schooner, was built at the shipyard Echevarrieta and launched on March 5, 1927.
The first ocean voyage was a trip around the world in the opposite direction of the route to Cape Horn. In the course of its long history, the Elcano also participated in numerous fleet reviews and competitions, where the ship has proven its sailing capabilities. The most important of these were the ocean off Bermuda Lisbon in 1964, the regatta between Bermuda and Newport in 1966 and the Grand Regatta Columbus in 1992.
