Cat of Kabul has been written by Philip Freriks for MatchBoox, illustrated by Martine Brand. Cat Kabul for cat lovers and philosophers and is a layered story about a cat that even in tragic circumstances in a war zone, true to his nature.
Philip Freriks (1944) is a Dutch journalist and writer. From 1996 to 2009 he was a presenter at the NOS News. In 2009 he presented three days a part of the news from Kabul in Afghanistan, where presidential elections were held. He presented the Great Dictation of the Dutch Language. From 2008 makes Freriks in France reports on location for program Le Tour de Fifi in the Avondetappe Mart Smeets.
Martine Brand studied Fashion and Design and then attended the Art Academy in Amsterdam. She has illustrated for various publishers of children's books including Kluitman, HarperCollins, Casterman and Penguin Books. In 2010, she partnered with Michel Haddi Studio Ltd, a series called Fashion Illustration Magazines Collections by Martine Fire spending worldwide, includes labels such as Chanel, Dior, Prada, Louis Vuitton, Alexander McQueen, Armani, Versace, YSL, Dolce and Gabbana and many more. Collections by Martine Fire during Fashion weeks are distributed worldwide by Comaq Conde Nast Publications and The International Magazine Company. These magazines are available in the best stores around the world including the Armani store, YSL, Hermes Boutique, Harrods, Selfridges, Corso Como 10, Angora press, Le bon Marche, Art Museums, Escada and WHS Smith. For various labels and magazines Fire has signed portraits of Karl Lagerfeld, Anna Wintour, Donnatella Versace, Giorgio Armani, Rei Kawakubo, Vivienne Westwood and Madonna.
