A scale is a duplicate of an object in comminuted form, in which the ratios remain the same as much as in reality. To do this, a model is used for a scale which determines the size of the parts and the whole of the model.
The models in this category are full metal models (sometimes with plastic parts). The concern therefore static models (not kits).
The size of the models can be indicated by means of a scale. A scale shows the reduction factor, this is expressed as a fraction. If the model eg 18 × smaller than the original, then the (verkleinings) factor of 0,055. Or else written 1: 18. The latter spelling is the most common. The "scale" 1: 18 then indicates that 1 cm of the model 18 cm of the original document.
