In the last few years, pug dogs have become very popular again. In fact, pugs are no breed contemporarily in vogue, but they are said to have originated from the Empire of China where they were first bred more than 2000 years ago. Apart from pugs, there is hardly any other dog breed to be found so frequently depicted in art. Pugs are not only considered dogs but a philosophy of life. Their sturdy, compact body and critical look make them unique in character and they are faithful companions. They are a perfect match for those of us who ungrudgingly overlook their beloved friend’s snoring, grunting, shedding and the fact that they call the best seat on the sofa their own. An amused smile on the hobby painter’s face tells us that he is well aware of these facts when painting this pug portrait.

For a small picture gallery, they can be nicely grouped and hung up in a decorative way. The painting templates have a visible and palpable canvas structure.
